Academic conference will bring together leading experts to explore post-pandemic challenges for school leaders
Leading Catholic academics and educationalists are holding a conference in London next month to explore responses to the current challenges in Catholic education.
The Network for Researchers in Catholic Education (NfRCE) has announced that its 2022 Annual Conference is being held in collaboration with the Catholic Association of Teachers, Schools and Colleges (CATSC).
Their first in-person gathering since 2019, the Conference will take place at St Mary’s University, Twickenham on 20th/21st May. The event will create a unique opportunity for researchers and leaders/practitioners in Catholic education to work together to formulate responses to the needs and concerns of Catholic school leaders working in the post-pandemic environment.
The conference theme is Flourishing as a Contemporary Catholic leader and teacher: insights from research and practice, and confirmed keynote speakers include Professor John Lydon, St Mary’s University; Professor Stephen McKinney, University of Glasgow and Asst. Professor Amalee Meehan, Dublin City University.
Emeritus Professors John Sullivan and Gerald Grace will also be present, and there will also be parallel papers presented by academics and early career researchers from across England, Scotland and Ireland.
The Executive Council Officers of the Catholic Association of Teachers, Schools and Colleges (CATSC) President John Nish, Treasurer Professor John Lydon and General Secretary Dr Caroline Healy and fellow members of the Executive Council told The Catholic Network that they are delighted to be collaborating with the Network for Researchers in Catholic Education (NfRCE) to host the Conference.
Prof. John Lydon, CATSC Executive, said: “working together with the Network for Researchers in Catholic Education, promises to be a fruitful one, enhancing the output of conference papers which, for previous conferences, have been acclaimed by Catholic teachers, leaders and academics”.
All who are interested in Catholic Education are invited to attend as it promises to be the largest gathering of leading Catholic education researchers and practitioners this year in the UK.

ABOUT CATSC
The formation of CATSC in 1996 brought together the long traditions of three organisations – the Catholic Teachers Federation of England and Wales, the Association of Catholic Schools and Colleges and the Association of Religious in Education.
At the national evel, the Association works to support and safeguard the interests of Catholic Education and those working in this sector. The Association enjoys good working relationships with the CBCEW and CES.
