St Newman parish cluster presents £3,000 Christmas boost to Good Shepherd, Wolverhampton

A Wolverhampton churches cluster has handed over a £3,000 cheque to a local group who work with the homeless and disadvantaged in the area.

The St Newman Cluster are four Catholic Churches working together seeking to serve the people of Bilston (Holy Trinity), Darlaston (St Joseph’s), Willenhall (St Mary’s) and Wolverhampton (St Joseph’s, East Park),  under the Patronage of St. John Henry Newman.

The £3,000 was raised as part of their cluster sponsored work, and the cheque was presented at Mass by Fr Craig Fullard (PP of the Newman Cluster) to the Good Shepherd Brothers at Good Shepherd, Wolverhampton.

The Good Shepherd was established by the Brothers of St John of God, a religious order who have supported the local community for almost 50 years. They deliver services in a way that makes people feel valued and always try to hear their voice.

Since 2003 they have provided a regular food service in the city of Wolverhampton and, more recently, have expanded the support they offer to include a day centre, meaningful activity programme, Housing First service and private sector supported lettings scheme.

Good Shepherd also hosts a multi-agency hub bringing together a wide range of agencies including health, education, training, and support services.

“An incredible donation from StNewmanCluster, who continue to be such fantastic supporters of everything we do at the Good Shepherd,” said Good Shepherd.

“Thanks to Father Craig and everyone who took part in the sponsored walk. Have a very happy Christmas.”
